For your secure electricity supply, we are currently planning the construction of several new 380-kilovolt extra-high-voltage overhead lines: The "wind bus bar" between Schwerin in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and Hamburg, the Uckermark power line that will transport electricity from the region around Prenzlau in Brandenburg to Neuenhagen near Berlin, the Berlin 380 kV Northern Ring and the Thuringian "electricity bridge" connecting Halle (Saxony-Anhalt) with Schweinfurt in Bavaria.

The Thuringian "electricity bridge"
dena study shows new ways of integrating wind power into the national power grid
From the perspective of 50Hertz Transmission, this dena study is a crucial first step along the way to integrating wind power in the energy mix of the future and thus an important signal with respect to climate protection. more
Further information on the need for grid extension
"No network" – while this occasionally occurs with mobile communications, it is completely inadmissible in the case of electricity supply. As electrical energy cannot be stored in large quantities, the quantity of electricity needed at any particular time must be generated. Consequently, power systems must be designed such that they can safely and reliably cope with the highest anticipated power demand. more
In total, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH will be investing around 470 million euros in three power-line construction projects: Around 93 million euros will be invested in construction of the "wind bus bar", approx. 248 million euros in the "Thuringian electricity bridge" and approx. 130 million euros will go into the “Uckermark power line”. Throughout our projects, we will be involving local companies, thus providing an important impetus for regional development. more
