In the course of the energy transition, 50Hertz is undertaking a number of challenging projects in the German Baltic Sea in order to transport the electricity generated by offshore wind farms to the onshore electrical grid by means of submarine cables. Since the beginning of 2018, job titles for 50Hertz job postings are female (labeled with“f/m”). This way, the company wants to send a signal: we would be happy to receive more applications from women, especially for our technical positions.The idea of drawing attention to 50Hertz in this particular way was conceived at a works council meeting in autumn 2017. Today, the percentage of applications by women is slightly higher than 20 percent of all received applications; about the same as the ratio of our entire workforce (21.7 per cent).
