(Berlin, 08/31/2018) Today, Eurogrid International, holding of 50Hertz, sold the Training and Research Centre for Power Systems Security (GridLab) to auditing and consulting firm DNV GL.
Over the past years, GridLab “has gone through an impressive evolution in a challenging environment, and I am pleased that GridLab has now found a new, strong partner,” said Dr Dirk Biermann, Chief Markets and System Operations Officer at 50Hertz. At GridLab, employees of transmission and distribution sys-tem operators as well as power stations were instructed and trained, under realistic circumstances, in the operational aspects and management of critical grid situations.
With the acquisition of GridLab, DNV GL seeks to enhance its offer to distribu-tion and transmission system operators. Andreas Schröter, Executive Vice President for Central Europe and the Mediterranean at DNV GL, commented: “The acquisition of GridLab is a good opportunity to increase the market share of DNV GL and to tap into synergies with our current portfolio. Moreover, we are glad to further strengthen our partnership with 50Hertz by continuing to train the employees at GridLab as before and to provide them with the additional resources from our experiences at DNV GL.” DNV GL will take over the permanent staff, which currently consists of 14 employees, as well as their offices and training facilities in Berlin-Schönefeld.
