922 million €

less redispatching costs because of the new
South-West coupling lines since January 1st 2016

Without the new lines less power can be transported from Thuringia to Bavaria. Excessive power had to be re-dispatched. This redispatching results in high costs for the grid customer, because cheap electricity coming from Renewables and other power plants in the North had to be replaced by more costly units in Bavaria and Austria.
Real time power flow:

3.537 MW

In comparison: the average load of Berlin is about 1.500 MW.
The new line saves approximately

11.851 Euro per hour

of redispatch costs.

The total savings are updated daily. The savings are calculated based on average values with simplified assumptions (constant grid topology and redispatch efficiency). The results were validated with detailed calculations for chosen timestamps.
