Altenburg – 50Hertz delivers a positive summary of both project conferences for the replacement of the 380 kV power line Röhrsdorf-Weida-Remptendorf. “After the intensive consultation ahead of the federal sector planning, today’s project conference by the Bundesnetzagentur in Altenburg took place in a very constructive setting”, concluded project supervisor Elke Korn. “Many of the participants supported our proposal to keep the corridor of the existing line.”

The project conference in Altenburg was the official start of the federal sector planning for the eastern section of the extra high voltage line between the sub-stations of Röhrsdorf and Weida. The Bundesnetzagentur gathered information from the representatives of the cities, municipalities, authorities and profession-al associations, but also private residents.
Thirty corridor sections in the eastern section were the subject of a detailed prior assessment for the application documents. Essentially, they connect three routes: along the existing line, along the A4 motorway and a third route through the Altenburger Land district. The 50Hertz team put the results of these as-sessments up for discussion by the participants in Altenburg, where about 100 people attended the conference.
One particular point of discussion were the alternative corridors in the immedi-ate vicinity of the Röhrsdorf substation. When adjusting the application docu-ments, it will have to be assessed whether a southern corridor alternative along the A4 motorway is preferable. As a result of the project conference, the Bun-desnetzagentur will define an assessment scope in which the further steps for the completion of the application documents will be described. The result of these works should be available by the fourth quarter of 2017. For the time being, the project conference documents can be consulted at the 50Hertz pro-ject website (www.50hertz.com/en/Grid-Extension).
The Röhrsdorf-Weida-Remptendorf 380 kV extra high voltage overhead line project
50Hertz is planning to replace the existing overhead line between the substa-tions Röhrsdorf (Saxony) and Weida to Remptendorf (Thuringia). The need for greater transmission capacity was first confirmed in the Grid Development Plan of 2012, and later laid down as project no. 14 in the acts on the Federal Re-quirements Plan of 2013 and 2015. The improved current-carrying capacity (from 2,500 to 3,600 amperes) will increase the transmission capacity by ap-prox. 40 per cent. As this is a cross-regional grid development project, the Bun-des-netzagentur is the competent permitting authority.
