Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Stefan Kapferer joined 50Hertz as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in December 2019. Before, he was Chief Executive Officer of the main management of the BDEW. From October 2014 to April 2016, Stefan Kapferer was Deputy Secretary General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris. In addition, he has also been State Secretary at federal and state level.

Chief Technical Officer (CTO)

Dr. Frank Golletz, born in 1960, has been the Chief Technical Officer for 50Hertz from 2011. Before, he acted as proxy and Head of the Assets/Grid Projects Department at 50Hertz. Between 1992 and 1997, Frank Golletz was in charge of substations at the Dresden Grid Operation Department of VEAG. He was also stationed at the VEAG branch in Bad Lauchstädt, where he managed grid operations for Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

Chief Markets & System Operations Officer (CMO)

Dr. Dirk Biermann, born in 1969, has been Chief Markets and System Operations since 1st April 2012. Prior to his current position, he acted as proxy for the company and held the position of Head of Energy Management. As such, he was responsible for the company's energy trading activities, which also includes ancillary services, EEG affairs and balancing group management as well as market development and congestion management.
In 1999, Dr Biermann joined VEAG, as it was called at the time. He later moved on to the Vattenfall Europe Holding in 2002, where he took up a leading position in the Grid Strategy Department in 2004.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Marco Nix, born in 1974, has been responsible for 50Hertz's Finance Department since July 2015. Since 2009 the business economist was Head of Controlling at 50Hertz and in addition from April 2014 Chief Corporate and Financial Officer of Elia Grid International . Born in Berlin, Nix previously held senior positions in the financial sector of the Vattenfall Group . His professional career in the energy sector began in 2001 at the Berlin based energy company Bewag.

Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Member of the extended management team

As of 1 January 2019, Sylvia Borcherding is 50Hertz Chief Human Resources Officer. In the past couple of years, she has held leading positions in the Metro group, at healthcare provider IAS and at outsourcing specialist Capita. Most recently, she worked as a freelance organisational consultant.
