Berlin is growing and requires a reliable and efficient power supply - today and in the future. The growing power demand and the development of new, high energy-consuming technologies require an upgrade of existing extra high voltage lines and the construction of new, powerful supply lines.
- Project 87 “Berlin grid development and reinforcement”, which the legislator confirmed in the Federal Requirements Plan in 2022, is key to this. The project concerns several measures with a total length of around 75 kilometres in Berlin and Brandenburg.
- In Berlin, the section of the Berlin Diagonal Power Link between Rudolf Wissell bridge and the Mitte substation is already under construction.
- Another section, between Teufelsbruch and Reuter, is being planned as a replacement construction project.
- Two new lines, the Berlin South Vertical Power Link and Berlin North Vertical Power Link are also planned as new construction projects.
- The measure from Biesdorf Süd to the Wuhlheide substation is currently being prepared.
