Photovoltaic (PV) installations are the second largest generator of renewable power in Germany (after wind farms). According to the master market-related data register (Markstammdatenregister), which is published by the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), the installed capacity of all PV installations in Germany amounted to more than 117,720 megawatts (MW) at the end of 2025.

The installed solar capacity across 50Hertz’s grid amounted to around 25% of Germany’s total installed solar capacity in 2025.
