Berlin. "Setting the pace for a successful energy transition" - this is the headline of the newly published 50Hertz Yearbook. It summarizes the most important company activities and key figures for 2018 and provides information for the first time in accordance with the high-quality sustainability reporting standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
In 2018, wind and solar energy already accounted for 56.5 percent of electricity consumption in our grid area. A share of 65 percent by 2030 - the target agreed by the coalition parties - is therefore already within reach for 50 Hertz. On the one hand, we are integrating innovative technologies such as the Flexi platform as part of the WindNODE project. On the other hand, the grid and the systems must be made fit in order to make additional transmission capacities available safely and efficiently. How we implement this in detail is described in the six Building Blocks of the Elia Group. The new corporate design as well as short interviews and many quotes from colleagues make the current annual report an entertaining read.
As a transmission system operator, sustainable action and social commitment are a matter of course for us. The CSR Report provides comprehensive information on the strategy and goals we are pursuing. In order to achieve comparability with other companies and to meet the requirements of various rating agencies, we have completely changed our 2018 reporting framework to the GRI standard. On our German sustainability website csr.50hertz.com, the content is also available in digital format.
