At the start of the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, which begins today, a wide alliance of companies spoke out in favour of an ambitious climate policy at the national and international level. 50Hertz, too, joined the call for action by Stiftung 2 Grad. 50Hertz CEO Stefan Kapferer commented: ‘How the current coronavirus pandemic is being handled shows that politics and economy can act decisively. We should use this impulse and these experiences to avoid future crises caused by climate change to the best of our abilities or at least mitigate them through timely prevention. We still have time to prepare for these challenges. The coronavirus crisis also shows that the global community is in the same boat and that we urgently need international cooperation.’ The signatories call on the German federal government to align the planned measures to support the economy so that these also contribute to the common goal of climate neutrality by 2050 in the long term, and as such reinforce the economy as well as society in a sustainable manner.
