50Hertz received the last permit of the plan approval for the sea route in the Exclusive Economic Zone in early October 2020. The approval includes route sections that have not yet been applied for in previous approval procedures. This means that further important steps can be implemented in the grid connection project Ostwind 2 for the two wind farms Arcadis Ost 1 (grid connection system OST-2-1) and Baltic Eagle (grid connection systems OST-2-2 and OST-2-3). The responsible authority is the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH).
With the Plan Approval Decision, test runs of cable laying without cables can also begin on these route sections. Further details about the challenging Baltic Sea flooring will be obtained during the preparation of the route. This data will then be used to lay the cables with less risk and less interference with nature.
The pending approval concerns a 700-metre long section of the route in the territorial sea directly in front of the Arcadis Ost 1 platform. The responsible authority is the Ministry of Energy, Infrastructure and Digitalization of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (EM M-V). The plan approval notice is expected within the next few months.
