    Germany and Austria: Congestion management successfully launched

    Today, congestion management for electricity trading at the German-Austrian border launched punctually and successfully. At the behest of the German regulatory authority the four German transmission system operators, namely 50Hertz, Amprion, TenneT and TransnetBW, have been working on this project in close cooperation with the market players and authorities in both countries as well as at the regional and European levels.

    German transmission system operators to charge national network fees for the first time

    As of 2019, network charges for the four German transmission system operators, 50Hertz, Amprion, TenneT and TransnetBW, are to include a nation-wide network fee component for the first time. Of this charge, 20 percent is calculated according to the cost base (revenue cap) for each transmission system operator, while the remaining 80 percent consists of the company-specific network fees charged by each transmission system operator.

    In the scope of the international conference "Controlling load flows - strengthening European electricity trade", organised by transmission system operator 50Hertz, 40 energy experts gathered today in Röhrsdorf (Saxony) to discuss first experiences in the coordinated use of so-called phase shifting transformers (PST) in Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany.

    Closing: KfW replaces IFM as share-holder in 50Hertz holding company

    The new shareholder structure of Eurogrid International, the 50Hertz holding company, is in place: the sale of the remaining 20% stake by the Australian infrastructure fund IFM to majority shareholder Elia (80 percent) and the resale of this stake to the promotional bank KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) was concluded today with the so-called closing.

    50Hertz welcomes Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) as minority shareholder

    Today, Elia System Operator SA/NV (Elia) announced the decision to exercise its pre-emptive right to acquire the remaining 20 percent share in Eurogrid International SCRL, the holding company of 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, from IFM Global Infrastructure Fund (IFM). This 20 percent share will be immediately resold to the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW).

    50Hertz informed about sale of 20 percent shares by IFM

    50Hertz has just been informed, that Elia System Operator SA/NV (Elia) received notification by IFM Global Infrastructure Fund (IFM) regarding IFM’s intention of selling its remaining 20 percent stake in Eurogrid International SCRL, the holding company above 50Hertz. The transaction is now subject to Elia’s pre-emption right.

    Interconnector Kriegers Flak - Combined Grid Solution reaches next milestone

    On April 3rd, the heart of the offshore platform Kriegers Flak Extension, the 450-MVA-Transformer, has been lifted and placed into the platform. The platform is built at the dockyard Hollandia in Krimpen/IJssel in the Netherlands. Here, the transformer will get its final oil filling and will be connected to the radiators. End of April the platform will leave the dockyard and will be shipped to the Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm. There, the platform will be placed onto the foundation.

    Elia to acquire an additional 20 percent stake in 50Hertz

    Elia System Operator SA/NV (‘Elia’), the Belgian transmission system operator and 50Hertz majority shareholder, has decided to exercise its pre-emption right to acquire an additional 20 percent stake in Eurogrid International SCRL (‘Eurogrid’), the holding company above 50Hertz. Through this transaction, Elia will own 80% of Eurogrid, while 20% remain with Australian infrastructure fund IFM Investors (‘IFM’).
